Killing enemies and mining ore will give you XP which you can spend whenever you die. Depending on how you die you'll get an XP multiplier which will multiply you current XP.

Move with WASD.

Access the inventory with Escape.

Cycle through the hotbar with the mouse wheel.

Change the position of items by clicking on the item then clicking on another inventory slot.
